“India’s Attractiveness and Opportunities – Food Processing Industry”

The Consulate General of India, Chicago in partnership with Nexdigm, organized a webinar titled “India’s Attractiveness and Opportunities–Food Processing Industry” today. The event saw participation of over one hundred attendees. 

Consul General Amit Kumar delivered the inaugural address providing a snapshot on India-USA strategic relations, overview of the Food Processing sector in India, measures taken including Production Linked Incentives scheme by the Government to strengthen and promote the sector, potential opportunities for foreign investors to expand business in India and to leverage India as hub for processed food exports etc. The current market size of the Indian food processing industry stands at USD 264 billion and is targeted to reach USD 540 billion by the year 2025.

CG also dwelt on the importance of US Midwest region as a natural partner, given its collective output of over USD 300 billion in the food processing sector and being home to major food processing companies. He also joined the panel discussion.

Dr Tarun Bajaj, Director, APEDA, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Industry representatives including Mr. Bhupinder Singh, CEO & MD, Vista Processed Foods and Mr. Suresh C. Rayudu, Vice President & MD, Srinivasa Farms participated in the panel discussion and shared their insights on the food processing sector. Mr. Marc Lessem, Senior Executive Director, Nexdigm moderated the session.

The Consulate will work with all stake holders in the US Midwest region and in US to strengthen linkages in the food processing sector.
